Have a superb weekend

Thanks again to all who participated in the giveaway! If you didn't win, don't worry. There will be another small giveaway next Wednesday. I think I might finally crack down on my summer reading this weekend, and my sister is coming home from her internship. Ooh also, Mom, Dad and I are going out to eat on Saturday evening. What are you up to this weekend? Painting a masterpiece? Getting a killer tattoo? Buying and crisp, new pair of jeans? Do tell!

P.S. A few cool things to get you through the weekend

RTR has new dresses! These four just might be in the prom running: 1, 2, 3 & 4

A groovy vase in my favorite color

A pretty, easy make-up look

A garden ring (that my mom would say is "different")

A hilariously blunt fashion blog

I'd love to wear either one of these: 1, 2 & 3 (minus the flowers)

For love letters

Have a lovely weekend!

Cap-a-pie

Do you ever wear one color from head to toe? If I ever catch myself wearing the same color all over, I usually try to break it up by wearing a colorful pair of earrings or my sister's red bag that I stole have borrowed for the summer. I like how the lady above has dressed cap-a-pie in tan (even her shopping bags!), but varies the shades and textures to add dimension and visual interest.

P.S. I want her bangles! These will have to do.

Just one quick question

I just have one question for you, my lovely followers. And don't worry! It's not just for kicks. Your answer will come in handy in the future:

Do you have a cat (or do you plan on getting one soon)?

Just leave you answer in the comments below. Thanks!

And since this post is so lackluster, here are five neat things I've found...

Two twins with killer style

A neat bow tie that my dad would never wear

I'd love to rest my feet on this

A vintage-inspired engagement session. Don't you love her dress (here's one that's similar) and his suspenders?

Four restaurants where you'll never get a table

One Lovely Blog Award

Cheryl of a peek of chic was kind enough to nominate me for the One Lovely Blog Award. How sweet! In order for me to properly pass on the torch, I must:

  1. Thank the person that gave me the award and link back to them
  2. Write seven random facts about myself
  3. Nominate 15 other bloggers

I've already done the first part, so here goes the rest!

Seven random facts...
-I'm allergic to something in sushi...I think it's the seaweed
-My favorite color is golden yellow (if you can't tell already)
-I have over 70 pairs of earrings
-When I'm not wearing contacts or staggering around half blind, I sport a nifty pair of red glasses (they're actually almost just like these)
-I'm left-handed
-I make some of my own hair products
-I like to eat sugar ice cream cones without the ice cream

And the blogs I nominate...

All of these blogs are fabulous and a few of them I just can't get enough of. Be sure to have yourself a look!

Thanks again Cheryl!

Vintage leather bag

Check out this lovely vintage purse. With its intricate embroidery and gently worn look, it'd look wonderful with some high-waisted jeans, an eyelet blouse and a floppy suede hat.

Do you own any vintage pieces?

Wedding Wednesday: Honeymoons

I came across the following honeymoon spots while browsing Mr. and Mrs. Smith, a brilliant website that finds luxury and boutique hotels. So, picture this: You've just had the wedding of your dreams and wake up the next morning with your fresh-out-the-box hubby, ready to skeedaddle and head straight for the airport. What's your destination?

The African savannah, where you'll stay in a tented lodge and look on as the land's creatures saunter through the wide-open plains.

A posh New York hotel that puts you right in the middle of SoHo and features a rooftop bar and its unrestricted view of Gotham City.

A Rocky Mountain ski lodge, where you'll don your snow boots and ride the slopes by day, and look out over the mountains from your suite by night.

An Italian B&B that's set high on a hill and surrounded by lush gardens and rangy valleys that provide a perfectly rustic landscape for romantic walks with your dearly beloved.

The beaches of the Philippines, where you can step out from your suite or villa and jump right into the ocean, or have a delicious plate of Mediterranean salad while your husband goes snorkeling.

Which one of these enticing honeymoons would you take?

And the winner is...

Congrats on winning the lovely Embrace Scarf from Anthropologie! We'll be in touch.

Thanks, everyone, for playing! Stay tuned for another giveaway (perhaps) in August!

Clutch bags

I absolutely love clutch bags. But, sadly, I just can't seem to find one that's large enough to hold all of my junk very important items such as my emergency cardigan (any one of several thin cardigans I always have because I always get chilly) and my small packet of Kleenex. I carried around this lovely number for my prom this year, which I completely loved because it incorporated three of my favorite things: leopard/cheetah print, shades of yellow and sequins. I believe it even held my packet of tissues!

Do you frequently carry clutches? Or do you prefer to stick to satchels, handbags and totes?

Mozzypop

The lovely Beth has inadvertently led me to the wonderful shop Mozzypop where the beautiful Dayner creates pieces of jewelry that are just as beautiful, as you can see above. She also happens to run a nifty little blog by the same name. What do you think of Dayner's pieces? Have you ever seen her blog?

P.S. I bet my sister would love this turquoise stone ring, but I think the cross ring is my fave.

Have a dandy weekend

This week has been wonderful! Thanks to everyone for participating in the giveaway. You still have until Monday at 2:00 PM EST to enter, so get to it! Captain America came out today, so perhaps Al and I will see it tomorrow as my parents and I are going out for dinner tonight. What are you up to this weekend? Going on a boat ride? Taking the car out for a spin? Making delicious toast with blueberries? Do tell!

Maxi skirts

Maxi skirts are great for summer, but they're also just as great for fall. I own a maxi skirt myself and I wear it all the time. This lovely lady seems to wear hers so well. I especially love that she accessorized it with my favorite kind of sunglasses! It looks so nice on her, I'd have no problem sporting that lovely skirt myself...especially if that gorgeous Chanel bag comes along with it.

Do you own any maxi skirts? What's your favorite way to wear them?

Painting

I much prefer sketching and sculpting to painting, but painting is still such a wonderful creative outlet. We even have a few of my old paintings hanging in our house. Do you paint? What about sketch? Sculpt?

P.S. Paint-splattered jeans and a painted-sleeve leather jacket

Wedding Wednesday: Mini Inspiration Boards

Wearable planters

Colleen Jordan makes wonderful miniature planters that are to be worn as jewelry. She has necklaces, earrings and even lapel pins! Her pieces are made upon request, but, sadly, don't come with the plants. How brilliant is this idea? Would you wear a teensy plant on your earlobe or around your neck? Do you like gardening?
