Giveaway!

Way back in August, I discovered the multi-functional Furoshiki, which is a Japanese wrapping cloth that can be used to carry things, wrap things, and perform tons of other useful tricks. Well, Annie and Deborah of Lulu Wraps have graciously offered up the large Edward wrap, made of black and white striped organza. How wonderful would this be to travel with? It could go from a shoulder bag, to a halter top to a gift wrap, all with absolute ease!

To enter, just follow An Air of Surprise via Google Friend Connect or Bloglovin'. For an extra entry, "like" Lulu Wraps on Facebook. Just be sure to let me know that you've done so in a separate comment. This giveaway will end next Monday, November 7th at 3 PM EST, and a winner will be chosen at random later that day. If the winner does not respond within 3 days, a new winner will be chosen. Please ensure that there is a way for me to contact you.

Annie and Deborah, thanks a bunch! Best wishes, everyone!

Have a splendid weekend!

Tonight is Homecoming, which means tons of high energy and loads fun! It'll be extra chilly tonight (and rainy!), which is a bummer, but I have a feeling that we'll all be having so much fun, we won't even notice. What are you doing this weekend? Getting ready for Halloween? Star gazing? Splurging on some Loubous? Do tell!

Rain hoods

Perfect for a rainy day such as this. What a neat idea!

P.S. Doesn't the brunette look a bit like Audrey Tautou?

Steamlight micro lamp

This lamp was originally made from a vegetable steamer. Would be cool to build an indoor fort around it and gaze at the light textures that it would project across the blankets.

Have a cozy weekend.

It has been absolutely FUH-REEZING this week!! It's been so cold, in fact, that my icy little fingers simply can't bear to type any more than a few words today. So, because of my lack of posts for the day, I have a few cool things that I've found throughout the week that I'd like to share with you. Look on...

An "everything Hervé Léger" website that I'm completely obsessed with
I quite like this mascara
I think he may have been a bit chillier than I am
An adorable riverside wedding
Anthropologie revamped their website! (Am I late?)
A colorful new blog

P.S. What are you doing this weekend? Stocking up on hot tea and staying in for the weekend? Seeing if you can get your hair to sit right on top of your head? Going to an awesome party? Do tell!

Pull-apart pumpkin bread

On a chilly day like today, I could really go for a sweet, nummy, fresh-out-the-oven loaf piece of this positively delicious pumpkin bread. Plus, the recipe is so easy, I even think I could make it (with a smidge of help)! What's your favorite thing to eat on a particularly cool fall day?

Halos ring

Jewelry designer Zuhal makes some pretty awesome pieces that combine futuristic elements with those of the 60s mod and the 70s disco era . I mean, just look at this ring! Doesn't it look like some sort of trippy mad scientist hat??

What's your favorite breakfast food?

During the week, I eat oatmeal with a few squirts of Agave Nectar, but when I happen to go out for breakfast, I always love a couple of slices of french toast, drizzled with maple syrup, and a small cup of hot tea! What's your favorite breakfast food?

Have a sweet weekend

Today is my parent's 22nd wedding anniversary (happy anniversary, parents!)! To celebrate, they've decided to go out to dinner (Mom will be wearing this). While they're out, I'll either be at my school's football game, or watching Say Yes to the Dress at home. What does your weekend entail? Pigging out on some delicious donuts? Trying out a super cute hair style? Biking down to the market? Do tell!

P.S. Check out the awesome ring I snagged the other day. It just came in and I love it! Thanks so much, Stacey!

Coffee joulies

Don't you hate it when you leave a delicious cup of tea to steep, and
you either wait too long and the tea is too cold, or you don't wait long
enough and the tea nearly burns a hole through your tongue?
Well, two friends (both named Dave) have just come up with the perfect
remedy for this problem: coffee joulies! Coffee joulies absorb thermal
energy from coffee or tea that's too hot, thereby "cooling it down to a
drinkable temperature three times faster". Then, they release the stored
thermal energy back into your mug to keep your coffee or tea at that
perfect temperature for twice as long! How neat is that??

What style of dress would you wear to your wedding?

Last night, I shamelessly watched part 2 of the Kim & Kris wedding special,
and now I have weddings on the brain. So, if you will, please indulge me by
answering this: If you were getting married, right this moment, what kind
of wedding dress would you be wearing?
Something classic?

Something unexpected?

Something modest?

Something cute and sweet?

Something slinky?

Something simple?

Hand-knit wool scarves

I really need to buy some new scarves, and these GORGEOUS pieces from Remember a Day would be just perfect. Shop owner Jenny makes such lush and beautifully hued cowls, plus you can easily pull one up and wear it as a hood! How chic would you look peeking out from behind one of these?

I need one ASAP.

And the winner is...

Congratulations! We'll be in touch.

Maja, thanks for hosting! And thanks to everyone else for playing!

Vintage eyeglasses

Check out these AWESOME vintage eyeglasses, straight from the 60s! My mom had a pair quite similar to these when she was younger, and I wish she had kept them. I'd wear them all the time! Just for the heck of it :).

P.S. How gorgeous are the model's freckles?
